The Copernicus Climate Change Service (C3S) has published a new assessment indicating that drought conditions affected at least 53 percent of the European continent during August. This proportion represents the highest share of drought‑affected area recorded since the service began compiling data in 2012. The findings were produced through the analysis of multiple data streams, including satellite observations and ground‑based weather stations.

By integrating these sources, C3S delivered a comprehensive snapshot of the month’s climate anomalies, offering information that can be applied to agriculture, water‑resource management and ecosystem health assessments.
