GREENVILLE, S.C., June 25 — Taylor Morrison, the national homebuilder that markets itself as America’s Most Trusted, is making its first move into the Upstate region of South Carolina. The company has announced it will enter the Greenville and Spartanburg markets with a new development called Braxton Ridge, located in Fountain Inn, South Carolina. Development work is beginning immediately.

Taylor Morrison has already acquired the first parcel of land for the project. The company is not waiting around on this one — the press release states work starts “immediately after acquiring this first parcel.” The detail that matters: upon completion, Braxton Ridge will bring approximately 33 homes to the area.

That is not a massive subdivision by national standards, but the technical reality here is that Taylor Morrison views this as a beachhead. The company has stated it is “looking to expand rapidly within these new markets in the coming years.” Fountain Inn sits roughly midway between Greenville and Spartanburg, placing the community within commuting distance of both cities’ employment centres. The Upstate region has seen sustained population growth over recent years, driven in part by the expansion of manufacturing and logistics operations in the corridor.

Taylor Morrison is deploying its standard approach: enter a growing market with a modest initial community, then scale up. Under the hood, this is a land-and-development play as much as a homebuilding one.

Acquiring the first parcel gives Taylor Morrison a foothold in a market where land prices have been climbing. The company can now establish relationships with local subcontractors, suppliers, and municipal planning departments before rolling out larger projects. As ever, the first community in a new market tends to be the most capital-intensive per lot, because the fixed costs of market entry — permitting, infrastructure, marketing — are spread over a smaller number of homes.

The company’s timing is notable. Announcing the entry in late June suggests Taylor Morrison expects to have model homes ready for the spring 2027 selling season, assuming a standard construction timeline. That would put Braxton Ridge on the market just as the next wave of Upstate buyers begins looking.

Taylor Morrison is a publicly traded homebuilder with operations across multiple US states. The company has not disclosed pricing for the Braxton Ridge homes, nor has it released floor plan details or square footage ranges.

Those figures will likely emerge as the development progresses through site work and into vertical construction. One wry observation: calling yourself “America’s Most Trusted Home Builder” is a bold claim in an industry that has historically ranked low in consumer satisfaction surveys. The company will need to deliver on that promise in a new market where it has no track record with local buyers.

Braxton Ridge will be the test case.
