S&P 500 equal-weight hits record as crypto assets post weekly losses

Wall Street Charging Bull

NEW YORK — The equal-weight S&P 500 hit a record this week. Crypto got hammered. Those two facts, sitting side by side, tell you something about where money is going right now.

Dogecoin lost 9.6 percent. HYPE, the Hyperliquid token, shed 9.9 percent.

Ether dropped 8.4 percent. XRP fell 7.8 percent. Bitcoin, the steadier of the bunch, slipped about 5 percent.

Solana and Tron held roughly flat. The numbers are clear enough.

The question is why. The answer, in plain terms from the market data, is that investors rotated out of digital assets and into stocks tied to artificial intelligence. The AI boom is drawing cash.

Crypto is not part of that party. Think of it as two rooms in a building. One room is packed — line out the door.

That’s AI stocks. The other room is emptying out.

That’s crypto. The equal-weight S&P 500 hit a record this week, meaning the rally is broadening beyond just the megacap tech names that dominated earlier in the year. But that broadening hasn’t extended to digital assets.

Not even close. Bitcoin’s behavior is worth a close look.

It slipped about 5 percent, but it kept bouncing back from dips near $58,000. That level matters. Dip-buyers stepped in repeatedly.

Margin liquidations were happening, but so was aggressive buying. The question now is whether Bitcoin can hold that support near $58,000. If it does, the floor might be in.

If it doesn’t, things get worse. The broader pressure on crypto comes from three things.

U.S. spot bitcoin ETF outflows are one. A hawkish Federal Reserve is another. A strong dollar is the third.

The Fed’s stance on interest rates makes riskier assets less appealing compared to the steady returns from AI-driven stocks. That’s not a theory.

That’s what the week’s numbers show. Everyday investors should pay attention to the rotation. Risk appetite persists.

Broad equity indexes hit new highs. But crypto is not part of that risk appetite right now. Money that might have gone into digital assets instead flowed toward AI stocks.

That left major tokens in the red. Dogecoin slid to about $0.076.

HYPE lost 9.9 percent, the steepest fall among the majors. Ether dropped to roughly $1,581. XRP fell to $1.06.

Solana held at $72. Tron stayed at $0.32.

The numbers are what they are. The practical upshot: Crypto remains under pressure. The Fed is not backing off.

The dollar is strong. ETF outflows are a drag. And AI stocks are sucking up the cash that might have gone elsewhere.

That’s the picture. What to watch next is Bitcoin’s support at $58,000.

If dip-buyers keep stepping in, the sell-off might have a floor. If they don’t, the slide continues. The rest of the market will follow whatever Bitcoin does.

This is not a complicated story. Money moved from one place to another.

The equal-weight S&P 500 hit a record. Crypto did not. That’s the week.
