NEW YORK, November 5, 2026 — Veriff’s new Presence Verification boosts social‑engineering fraud detection by 84 percent, according to the company.
Beyond Liveness: The Next Layer of Identity Checks
Traditional liveness detection answers one question: is the face real or a static photo, mask, or replay? Veriff adds a second tier that confirms a live human is physically present and acting freely, without third‑party coaching.
The tool merges passive facial liveness with video, audio, device and network analysis, scanning more than 1,000 risk signals in a single decision engine.
How Contextual Signals Spot Deepfakes and Coercion
Presentation attacks such as 3D masks, screen replays and injected deepfakes are flagged by video analysis. An optional coercion detection tier watches the full session for signs that another person is directing the applicant, supporting 98 languages and delivering over 98 percent accuracy.
Device and network fingerprints identify emulated or simulated devices, helping to separate human users from scripted bots that now account for over half of web traffic.
Impact on Fintech and Account‑Takeover Prevention
Fintech firms can deploy the SDKs on iOS, Android or via REST API to screen account registrations, loan applications and high‑value transactions. By catching impersonation—more than 85 percent of detected fraud in 2026—and the 4.18 percent fraud rate in 2025, the solution strengthens the bottom line for banks and marketplaces.
Investors will note that the ability to verify human presence during AI‑assisted, or “agentic,” commerce adds a layer of accountability that existing biometric checks lack.
Future‑Proofing Against AI‑Assisted Fraud
With generative AI lowering the barrier to convincing deepfakes, Veriff’s contextual approach provides a scalable defense. The company positions the technology as a safeguard against the projected 750 percent rise in agentic traffic reported by peers in the sector.
Veriff says the decision engine delivers automated outcomes through webhooks, enabling rapid integration into existing fraud‑prevention workflows.
Veriff will make the Presence Verification SDKs generally available to customers starting December 1, 2026.
